Tolstachaolais

(Tolsta Chaolais, Tolastadh a' Chaolais)

A hamlet on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Tolstachaolais (Gael: Tolastadh a' Chaolais, meaning 'Tolsta of the Narrows') lies on the east side of a hammer-head shaped peninsula which pushes out into East Loch Roag, 2½ miles (4 km) north northwest of Breasclete and a similar distance south of Carloway. Scenes for the BBC television adaption of Mairi Hedderwick's Katie Morag books was filmed here in 2013.
