A location in Central Angus, lying 4 miles (6.5 km) southwest of Brechin, Melgund comprises the hamlet of Mains of Melgund and the 16th century Melgund Castle. Muirside of Melgund and Melgund Muir lies to the south, adjacent to the Montreathmont Forest.
