Dykehead
Stirling

A village at the centre of Flanders Moss in Stirling Council Area, Dykehead lies just north of a bend on the River Forth on the B 8034 road between Port of Menteith and Arnprior. To the east stand the 18th century farmhouse of Brucehill with its U-plan steading entered by a stone archway and Cardross House which was built after the Reformation by the Erskines of Cardross. The three-arched Cardross Bridge over the River Forth was built in 1774 from the revenues of lands forfeited to the Crown after the Jacobite Rising of 1745.
