A hamlet of Nithsdale in E Dumfries and Galloway, Burnhead lies to the west of the River Nith, 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Dumfries. Burnhead should not be confused with a village of the same name which is located 7 miles (11 km) to the north northwest.
