Nerston

South Lanarkshire

A small hamlet of South Lanarkshire, Nerston is now a northern satellite of East Kilbride and lies 2 miles (3 km) from the town centre. Robert Wiseman Dairies, one of the largest commercial milk producers in the country, is based at Nerston. The company opened their first dairy in a former piggery here in 1947 and now has an annual turnover exceeding £800 million. It was taken over by German dairy giant Muller in 2012.
