Goldenberry

North Ayrshire

A location forming part of the Hunterston Estate and lying immediately to the south of the Hunterston Nuclear Power stations, Goldenberry comprises a derelict farm-stead, with Goldenberry Hill rising to 140m (459 feet) to the south. It was here, in 1830, that two West Kilbride men found a Celtic brooch while digging drains. Known as the Hunterston Brooch, this unique artefact is now held by the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
