Millisle

Dumfries and Galloway

A location in the Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Millisle lies a half-mile (1 km) west of Garlieston. Millisle Parish Church was designed by Alan Stewart, the 10th Earl of Galloway (1835 - 1901) and features three fine stained glass windows, the first in memory of his father Randolph Stewart, the 9th Earl (1800-73), the second in memory of his factor James Drew, and the third in memory of Anglo-Australian shipping magnate Sir Malcolm Donald McEacharn (1852 - 1910). A junction on the Wigtownshire Railway opened in Millisle in 1876.
