Clate

(Clett)
Shetland

A scattered hamlet on the Shetland island of Whalsay, Clate (occasionally Clett) is located a half-mile (1 km) south of Symbister. The settlement has developed with many modern houses built on the proceeds of the fishing industry in the late 20th century. The Ward of Clett rises to 119m (390 feet) to the northeast and was the site of a RADAR station during World War II.
