Kelty


Fife

A former mining town in W Fife, Kelty is situated a mile (1.8 km) southwest of Loch Ore and 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Cowdenbeath. The mining settlement was developed after 1872 when the Fife Coal Company was established. Keltybridge lies on the opposite bank of the Kelty Burn which represents the boundary with Perth & Kinross. Kelty was bypassed by the M90 motorway in 1970.
