Rosehall

North Lanarkshire

A former collier village in Old Monkland parish, North Lanarkshire, which now forms a suburb of Coatbridge, Rosehall lies between Whifflet and Shawhead, a mile (1.5 km) southeast of the town centre. Numerous coal mines were worked in this area from the 18th Century, and five men were killed following an explosion at the large Rosehall Colliery complex on 14th August 1934, but this pit closed in 1944.

Rosehall High School has a roll of more than 400 pupils.
