Benhar

West Lothian

A location on the border of West Lothian and North Lanarkshire, Benhar lies to the west of Fauldhouse Moor, 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Fauldhouse. Long associated with coal-mining, the location gave its name to the Benhar Coal Mining Company which operated pits across the Lothian coal-field. A settlement remains at West Benhar, but that at East Benhar and Benhar Farm have disappeared.
