Scrabster

Highland

A former settlement in N Sutherland, Scrabster lies to the east of the Rhian Burn, 1¼ miles (2 km) south of Tongue. The settlement was cleared by Lord Reay in the earlier part of the 19th century to make way for sheep, with the twelve families who lived here resettled on the coast where it was felt they stood a better chance of making a living.
