The Falkland community web portal has some interesting images of Falkland through the years as well as much information about this pretty conservation town in 2010. See http://www.smartcommunityfife.org.uk/falkland-and-newton/

for more.

20 March 2005:
As a descendant of Margaret Stewart Hamilton Tyndall Bruce who inherited Falkland Palace from her uncle John Bruce (who himself originally purchased Falkland Palace in 1820), I am surprised that not more is written about the family as they owned Falkland Palace for nearly 60 years. My Great-g-g-grandfather (Robert) was born there and the 3rd Marquess of Bute bought the Palace from my family in 1887.

Margaret Stewarts husband Onecipherous, built the church which is nearby Falkland Palace and a monument to him stands in the Church grounds. There is also a monument to my family in the centre of Falkland Village, opposite the church.

It would be nice, for my family to see mention of their ancestors in writings about Falkland Palace for the public to see, such as in Scottish National Trust literature and it disappoints me greatly not to see it. This site is the first of many sites I have visited that actually mentions my family by name.
