First Ever Women's Football Match


1881

The first ever international women's football match and the first women's match to be played under official Football Association rules took place in Edinburgh on 7th May 1881. The teams represented England and Scotland, with Scotland winning 3-0. The match took place at Hibernian Park, the former home of Hibernian Football Club close to their present ground at Easter Road Park.
