The Wallace Monument on Abbey Craig

A wooded basaltic knoll in Eastern Stirling Council Area, Abbey Craig rises to 91m (300 feet) above the River Forth to the east of the city of Stirling. It forms a glacial crag-and-tail feature and on its summit stands the 67-m (220-foot) Wallace Monument, a memorial to Sir William Wallace (1270 - 1305) erected in 1869 to a design by the architect John T. Rochhead.
