A steep-sided summit in the NE of Argyll & Bute Council Area, Beinn Dubh rises to 696m (2283 feet) overlooking the River Lochy to the northwest, 2 miles (3 km) north of Ben Lui and 4 miles (6 km) west southwest of Tyndrum. Ben Dubh lies at the western extremity of a long ridge which extends from Beinn Chuirn, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the east northeast.
