Gayfield Park

Located on the sea-front just to the west southwest of Arbroath Harbour, Gayfield Park is home to Arbroath Football Club, known as the Red Lichties. The second football ground to have occupied this site, Gayfield Park opened in 1925, replacing the original ground which was laid out in 1880. Today, the ground has a capacity of 6488, safety having reduced number from the stadium record of 13,510 in 1952. Although principally comprising uncovered terraces where supporters stand to watch the match, the new Gayfield Stand was opened in 2002 to provide seating for 714 people.

Arbroath Football Club were founded in 1878 and became a professional team in the 1890s. The club hold the record for the biggest victory in a competitive football match, having beaten Aberdeen Bon Accord by a margin of 36-0 in 1885.
