A reservoir in the Lammermuir Hills of the NE Scottish Borders, the Watch Water Reservoir lies 2 miles (3 km) west southwest of Longformacus and 8 miles (13 km) west northwest of Duns. Opened in 1954, it extends to 48.5 ha (120 acres) and lies on the course of the Watch Water, which is a tributary of the Dye Water. Retained by an earth embankment dam, the reservoir is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water. It is a popular location for sports fishing and is stocked with brown and rainbow trout.
