An uninhabited drying island lying between Benbecula and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Gulan (sometimes Gualann) is located a half-mile (1 km) north of Eochar. Although rarely more than 100m in width, this low-lying sandy island extends for 1½ miles (2.5 km) across the channel.
