Queen's Park

A small district with a railway station in S Glasgow, Queen's Park is called after the historical park of the same name and located 1½ miles (2.5 km) west of Rutherglen and 2 miles (3 km) south of Glasgow city centre. The 60-ha (148-acre) park, which lies to the south, was the site of the Battle of Langside in 1568 and laid out as a park in the 19th Century. Queen's Park Secondary School served the community between 1876 and 1994, with its buildings finally demolished in 2006.
