A district of Hamilton (South Lanarkshire), Udston lies a mile (1.5 km) west of the town centre. Udston was once associated with coal-mining and an underground explosion on 28th May 1887 killed 73 miners.
Today, the district has a primary school and a hospital which provides long-term care for elderly patients and a rehabilitation unit.
