Leim, Rubh' an

(Rubh' an Lèim)

A narrow peninsula which extends across the entrance of Lowlandman's Bay on the southeast coast of Jura in the Inner Hebrides, Rubh' an Leim (Rubh' an Lèim) is located a mile (1.6 km) east northeast of Knockrome. The name means 'point of the leap' which commemorates McLever, a local thief, jumping across a crevice in an attempt to escape his pursuers. A ridge which rises to 34m (111 feet) runs along the spine of the peninsula.
