Hill of Edendocher

The Hill of Edendocher in W Aberdeenshire rises to 577m (1893 feet) 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Glen Dye and 9 miles (15 km) southwest of Banchory. It lies on a ridge which includes the Hill of Badymicks, Sandy Hill and Clachnaben. An RAF Hawker Audax biplane crashed here during a training flight from RAF Montrose on 5th May 1939. The crew of two survived, but the wreckage remains on the hill, one of the oldest aircraft wrecks remaining in situ in Scotland.
