Waughton Hill

A grassy summit which represents the highest point of Mormond Hill in the Buchan district of NE Aberdeenshire, Waughton Hill rises to 234m (767 feet) 1½ miles (2.5 km) northeast of Strichen. The Mormond White Horse lies on its southern slopes, with the ruined two-storey Hunter's Lodge nearby, both built by the local landowner Captain Fraser, Lord Lovat of Strichen). There are disused quarries on Pluck Hill to the west.
