Clairinsh

(Clairinch, Clarinch)

One the smaller of several wooded islands in the southeast of Loch Lomond, Clairinsh (also Clairinch or Clarinch) lies to the southeast of the larger Inchcailloch, a half-mile (1 km) southwest of Balmaha in the southwest corner of Stirling Council Area. The island reaches 14m (45 feet) in height. Clairinsh was granted to the Buchanan family by the Earl of Lennox in 1225, and the name became their war-cry.
