Ardnahoe Loch

(Loch Ardnahoe)

A small loch in the NE of Islay in the Inner Hebrides, the Ardnahoe Loch is located 1½ miles (2.5 km) north northeast of Port Askaig and partially surrounded by woodland. Said to be one of the deeper lochs on the island, it extends to 20.1 ha (49.7 acres) and supports a recreational fishery, as well as providing water to the Ardnahoe Distillery to make whisky and cool the stills. The loch drains to the east via a short stream which falls into the Sound of Islay. There is a waterfall on that stream named Eas na Carraige Duibhe.
