Leorin Lochs

A pair of small loch in the S of Islay (Argyll and Bute), the Leorin Lochs lie ¾ mile (1.2 km) west northwest of Beinn Bhreac and 2 miles (3.2 km) north northeast of Port Ellen. The two lochs are of similar size; extending to 5.9 ha (14.6 acres) and 5.6 ha (13.8 acres) respectively. They receive water from the little Loch Laoim, together with several other small streams. They cast off the Camag nan Abhainn, which becomes the Leorin River, from which water is abstracted into the Distillery Burn, taking water to Port Ellen Maltings and former Distillery.
