The island of Belnahua is located in the Firth of Lorn, east of the Garvellachs and 1½ miles (2.5 km) west of Cullipool on Luing. Famed for its slate, the island has been considerably denuded by quarrying. Deep water-filled cuttings and the ruined slate workers cottages remain as a testament of this industry.
