The largest of three industrial estates in the SW of Glenrothes In Fife, Southfield is located 2 miles (3 km) southwest of the town centre. Its neighbours are Whitehill and Viewfield industrial estates. Its streets are named after notable British scientists and engineers (Cavendish, Crompton, Faraday, Nasmyth, Rutherford, Stirling, Wheatstone and Whitworth). Glenrothes Airport is located a half-mile (1 km) to the west northwest.
