Murray Burn

A stream which rises on the northeastern slopes of Dalmahoy Hill in the west of the City of Edinburgh Council Area, the Murray Burn flows east northeast, passing to the north of Currie, before turning north to flow alongside Riccarton Mains Road until it reaches the eastern edge of the Heriot-Watt University campus where it turns east northeast once again. The Murray Burn crosses the A720 Edinburgh Bypass just to the south of the A71 Hermiston junction and then flows through The Calders in a culvert, located to the north of the Union Canal, alongside Murrayburn Road. It continues in a culvert which follows Murrayburn Road, to the north of Wester Hailes and Longstone, before falling into the Water of Leith to the southeast of HM Prison Edinburgh at Saughton, having completed a course of 5½ miles (9 km).
