Solway Harvester Memorial, Isle of Whithorn

Two memorials located on Isle Head at Isle of Whithorn (Dumfries and Galloway), the Solway Harvester memorials comprise a rough-hewn seat and a boulder topped with a metal anchor, both made of Galloway granite and inscribed with the names of the seven men who lost their lives with the sinking of a local fishing boat. Three of the crew were residents of Isle of Whithorn, with the others coming from Whithorn and Garlieston. The boulder was dedicated by a local minister and relatives in a private ceremony in 2004 and was funded by the Solway Harvester Trust, while the seat states that it was "erected by the Freemasons." The Solway Harvester was lost in a storm off the Isle of Man on 11th January 2000 and investigations revealed significant safety flaws.
