Isle of Mull Community Swimming Pool

(Mull and Iona Swimming Pool)

A public swimming pool and leisure centre, the only one on the island, the Isle of Mull Community Swimming Pool overlooks Port na Luinge at the northern end of Craignure Bay, a half-mile (0.8 km) northwest of the settlement of Craignure (Argyll and Bute). The £2 million facility was developed as a partnership between the adjacent Isle of Mull Hotel and the local community following a lengthy campaign for a swimming pool on the island. Opened in 2008, it comprises a 17-metre (19-yard) indoor pool, with spectacular views, and separate children's splash pool.

Run by the hotel, which enjoys restricted periods of exclusive use for their patrons, the complex also incorporates leisure and spa facilities, including sauna and steam rooms, a gym, tanning room, hair and nail salon, together with an outdoor hot tub.

The architects were Edinburgh-based Crerar & Partners, closely associated with the hotel's owners the Crerar Group, and the centre was built by the local company TSL Contractors. The design includes a 'green' roof, solar panels and other sustainable features.
