A significant pass and deep valley of the Lowther Hills, the Mennock Pass descends to the southwest of Wanlockhead conveying the B797 to link with the A76 Trunk Road at Mennock. The scenery is spectacular as the road twists and turns above the Mennock Water through a valley devoid of settlement.
