Rising to a height to 977m (3205 feet) to the west of Ben Nevis in Lochaber, Highland region, Stob Ban is small compared to its companions in the Grey Corries range, yet it attains the height necessary to be a Munro. This teardrop-shaped summit has a ridge extending to the southwest. Its main distinctive feature is a giant staircase of quartzite and its name is Gaelic, meaning "light coloured peak". There is another Stob Ban 8½ miles (14 km) to the west southwest.
