A shallow inlet in the far south of the Shetland Mainland, the Pool of Virkie is located immediately to the north of Sumburgh Airport and 2¼ miles (3.5 km) north of Sumburgh Head. The settlement of Eastshore lies on its northern shore, with a small marina on Brough Head to the southeast.
