Sron Ulladale

(Strone Ulladale, Sron Uladal, Sron Uladail)

Representing the United Kingdom's largest overhanging cliff, Sron Ulladale (also Strone Ulladale, Gael: Sron Uladal or Sron Uladail) is remotely located on the south side of Glen Ulladale in North Harris, 2½ miles (4 km) south of Loch Resort and 4 miles (6.5 km) northeast of Amhuinnsuidhe. This immense rock buttress rises steeply to the south of Loch Ulladale, reaching a height of 442m (1450 feet), and includes a natural amphitheatre. The cliff provides one of the most challenging rock faces in the world for climbers. In August 2010, BBC Scotland filmed Dave Macleod and Tim Emmett tackling the crag in one of the largest outside broadcasts to be mounted in the Outer Hebrides. At the end of the climb, they named the route The Usual Suspects.

This crag is also favoured by Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos).
