The ruined remnant of a small tower house in S Aberdeenshire, Abergairn Castle is located to the northeast of the entrance to Glen Gairn, 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Ballater. Built in 1614, it comprises a rectangular block with a round tower at the NW corner and may once have risen to four storeys but now reaches a maximum height of only 3m (10 feet). Abergairn was a property of the Farquharsons.
