One of the Kilsyth Hills of North Lanarkshire, Drumbuoy rises to 393m (1289 feet) surrounded by the Carron Valley Forest, a mile (1.5 km) south of the dam at the eastern end of the Carron Valley Reservoir and 3 miles (5 km) north of Kilsyth.
