A foothill at the eastern end of the Grampian Mountain range in S Aberdeenshire, Craigneil rises to 270m (885 feet) on the edge of the Durris Forest, 1½ miles (2.5 km) west northwest of Rickarton and 6 miles (10 km) west northwest of Stonehaven.
