The site of the Drumclog Battlefield is located 5 miles (8 km) southwest of the town of Strathaven and is marked by a monument. The Battle, fought in 1679 was between the victorious Covenanters and Lord Graham of Claverhouse (1649-89). The Covenanters were outnumbered, but their tactics were to prove successful having forced Claverhouse's men into a bog.
