Highlandman's Wood

An extensive plantation forest in Argyll and Bute, Highlandman's Wood lies on the southern slopes of Tom na h-Airidh, 1¼ miles (2 km) northwest of Helensburgh. It takes its name from the Highlandman's Road, a drove road of some antiquity. Existing in the 19th C., the woodland was greatly extended in the 20th C. A substantial area in the southeast of the forest was felled 2018-19, but with the intention of replanting.
