Black Loch


(Loch Crindil)

A loch in far W of Dumfries and Galloway, the Black Loch (also known as Loch Crindil) lies to the east of the White Loch, 3 miles (5 km) east of Stranraer. Lochinch Castle lies on its western shore, while the remains of Castle Kennedy lie on its southwestern shore. The loch contains a crannog, known as Heron Isle.
