Selm Muir Wood

Selm Muir Wood is a long-established forest which extends to 92 ha (227 acres), 1½ miles (2 km) south of East Calder and 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Livingston. It surrounds Selm Muir Reservoir and comprises mature Scots pine trees enclosed by younger spruce trees, with scatterings of rowan, birch and willow. A network of mostly level forest roads, tracks and paths give access to this tranquil forest, which is actively worked and managed by Forestry and Land Scotland. It is accessed from Morton Road in the west and Leyden Road in the east.
