Loch Achtriochtan lies at the heart of Glen Coe, Highland Council Area. Served by the River Coe, which passes through it, the Loch lies between the site of the Glencoe massacre and Ossian's Cave. To the south rises the peaks of the Three Sisters while to the north lies the Aonach Eagach or "notched ridge". The village of Glencoe is situated 3 miles (5 km) to the west.
