Fell Hill

A hogback summit in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Fell Hill rises to 153m (501 feet) 4 miles (6.5 km) northwest of Kirkcowan. The Black Loch lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) to the north, while Loch Heron is located a half-mile (0.8 km) west. The hill has been shaped to suggest the NE-SW direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet which covered this area, but also deposited material to form the drumlins which surround Fell Hill; namely Knockbrake, Knockalanny, Drumiemay and Knockincar.
