Millgrane Hill

An oval hillock in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Millgrane Hill rises to 79m (259 feet) on the left bank of the River Bladnoch, a half-mile (1 km) north northeast of Shennanton House and 4 miles (6.5 km) west of Newton Stewart. This represents a drumlin laid down beneath an ancient glacier and its principal axis is aligned NNW-SSE indicating the direction of ice flow. Confusingly, another Millgrane Hill lies only 2½ miles (4 km ) to the south, while Eldrig Moss lies to the northeast.
