Located 5 miles (8 km) south of Dumfries, New Abbey Corn Mill is an 18th Century water-powered oatmeal mill preserved by Charles W. Stewart, who gave it to the nation in 1977. It is in full working order and regular demonstrations are given for visitors in the summer. It is maintained by Historic Environment Scotland, the government agency responsible for preserving Scotland's built heritage.
