Loch of Stenness

A sizeable but shallow loch on Mainland Orkney, the Loch of Stenness lies between Stromness and the Loch of Harray. In the vicinity there are prehistoric remains at the Ring of Brodgar, Maes Howe and the Stones of Stenness. Concern was expressed in 2001 that eutrophication was disrupting the natural eco-system of the loch.
