Carn Dearg

A remote Corbett which forms one of the Monadhliath Mountains in Highland Council Area, Carn Dearg rises to 736m (2414 feet) to the north of the upper reaches of the River Spey, 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Melgarve. Confusingly, although perhaps not surprisingly given that the name simply means 'red hill' in Gaelic, there are several other Carn Deargs in the vicinity; one reaching 815m (2673 feet) 8½ miles (14 km) west, a second that rises to 768m / 2519 feet 8½ miles (14 km) west southwest and a third which reaches 834m (2736 feet) 10½ miles (17 km) southwest.
