A hill in N Moray, Brown Muir rises to 339m (1112 feet) on the eastern side of the Glen of Rothes, 3¾ miles (6 km) north northwest of Rothes and 4½ miles (7 km) south southwest of Lhanbryde. Just to the northwest of its summit is an Ordnance Survey primary triangulation pillar installed in
1936 for the re-triangulation of Great Britain. Nearby is a communications mast.
